The tragic drunk driving accident that took the life of Angelo Bowers and hospitalized Josh Adam Meyers was exactly one year ago from today. If you can spare it, please take a moment to remember the great talent that Angelo was and that his jokes are still pretty damn funny though we’ve read them dozens of times.

Also, remember that drunk driving is amongst the dumbest horrible things you can ever do in your life.

This is something new that I’m trying, and hopefully y’all enjoy it. I have a ton of scripts I’ve written (Sketches, Pilots, Spec scripts, etc.) Instead of going the traditional route of printing and handing them out to people and watching their face fall as I ask them to read it, I’m giving you the option to read it whenever you want. You can read them or not. Nothing will change. If you like them, great. If not, that’s fine too. This isn’t so much an open forum for critique, so please refrain from posting comments saying “This is what I would do if I were you.” If you read it and let me know, I’ll probably ask your opinion anyway.

So, that being said, I’m going to post a script every week or so until I’ve run out.

If this is something you’re not on board with and you follow my blog, you can feel free to unfollow. There will be no hard feelings, and we can still go get lunch.

The homies.

This picture couldn’t sum up more perfectly what life was like for me three and a half years ago. Josh in the spotlight while Angelo makes some obscure reference to a Steven Soderbergh film and I crack up. Comedy. Open mics. Driving from spot to spot making sure you get on the list and your friends do too, so you can all roll out somewhere else together and ride with the one person that has a car.

To say I’m going to miss Angelo would be a GIGANTIC understatement. You find your pals in this industry, and then you find family. That’s what Angelo was to me, and so many other people. We rode together. Lived together sometimes. Ate together. Called and texted always checking on the other. Always said I love you. It was important to him and to me.

Now I’m crying, drinking tea, and wondering in what reality I’m in that I’m not gonna talk to him anymore. No more random picture texts. No more jokes about selling merch for bigger comics. I guess what I’m saying is a lot less laughter.

I realize it’s late and I’m being sappy, but Angelo will always hold a place in my heart as my friend, some of my biggest competition, and family. No one made me laugh the specific way he did, or ever will.

This picture is a tribute to him and Josh. People I’ve shared more in four years with than many have in a lifetime. If nothing else, we always have this.

See you soon, brother. Love you.

P.S.-This photo was taken by Aristotle Athiras. This was the second night I ever hung out with him. Good dude.
